Joan Meseguer Llopis from Fundación Valenciaport, recently participated as a speaker in the workshop “Artificial Intelligence from the Social Perspective,” organized by Forética at NTT DATA’s offices in Madrid, as part of the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Forum.

The session brought together experts from across sectors to explore how Artificial Intelligence can be developed and deployed in an ethical, transparent, and socially responsible way. Central themes included trust, transparency, and bias mitigation, all viewed through the lens of human-centric innovation and the social impact of AI.
Representing THEMIS 5.0, Joan presented the project’s work on building a methodology for evaluating the trustworthiness of AI systems, a key step toward ensuring that AI technologies are adopted responsibly and safely. Fundación Valenciaport plays a leading role in this effort, spearheading one of the THEMIS pilots focused on applying trustworthy AI principles within the port sector. The pilot explores how AI-driven systems can enhance operational efficiency while remaining aligned with ethical, legal, and societal expectations.
The event was organized by Forética, the leading business network on sustainability and corporate social responsibility in Spain and Latin America, representing more than 200 member organizations. Forética’s mission is to integrate social, environmental, and governance (ESG) principles into corporate and organizational strategy. It is Spain’s representative on the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the Spanish Business Council for Sustainable Development, and the National Partner Organization of CSR Europe.
Forética also developed the SGE 21 standard —. the first social responsibility management system that allows organizations to obtain voluntary CSR certification. More than a hundred companies and institutions in Spain and Latin America are already certified under this benchmark.
Through initiatives like the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Forum, Forética continues to foster dialogue between the private sector, research institutions, and policymakers, promoting a shared vision of ethical, trustworthy, and socially beneficial AI. THEMIS 5.0 is proud to contribute to this conversation, bringing forward practical approaches to trust in AI across sectors such as ports, healthcare and media.
