Save the details for Sisyphus’ Code: The Ongoing Quest for Trustworthy AI Workshop at Data Week 2025.

🗓 May 27, 2025

🕓 16:00 – 17:30

📍 Room 1 | In Person

🎯 Track: AI Ethics

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to shape decisions in healthcare, public services, finance, and beyond, the need for trustworthy AI has never been more urgent, or more complex.

Join us for “Sisyphus’ Code: The Ongoing Quest for Trustworthy AI”, a THEMIS 5.0 led workshop inspired by the myth of Sisyphus (Greek King who was punished by the gods to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity), a powerful metaphor for the perpetual effort required to align AI with human values. Just like Sisyphus’ unending task, building AI that is robust, fair, transparent, and accountable is a journey that must be constantly revisited, refined, and reimagined.

Graphic of a man pushing a large boulder up a mountain side.

This dynamic, in-person session brings together experts from leading national, European, and international organisations including ICCS, Kings College London, IRT Systems, Fraunhofer, IRT System X and Forth, to examine how we move beyond technical checklists toward meaningful, human-centred AI.

Expect thought-provoking presentations and interactive discussions covering:

  • Technical barriers to trustworthy AI

  • Real-world challenges in implementing ethical AI practices

  • Evolving risks and future research needs

  • Whether true "trustworthiness" in AI is achievable or an ever-shifting target that demands ongoing vigilance

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to be part of a growing community committed to rethinking AI governance, ethics, and engineering from the ground up. Whether you're a researcher, policymaker, technologist, or simply curious—this workshop is for anyone invested in making AI not just more powerful, but more responsible.

Secure your seat and join the quest. The boulder may never rest. but each push matters.
